On the American Idol 2012 elimination results show Thursday night, we finally found out which contestants will make it through to the top 5 and who would be making their final swan song. The American Idol predictions for elimination out there this week were a mixed bag and the voters have been doing all sorts of crazy things lately, so it was really anyone’s guess who would go home on the elimination results show this time.
Who was voted off American Idol 2012 this week? Was there a last minute surprise elimination no one was predicting? Or were the results as boring as some of the performances last night? Read on in our American Idol 2012 elimination results show recap to find out!
WARNING: AMERICAN IDOL 2012 SPOILERS AHEAD!
Please stop reading here if you have not seen Thursday night’s episode and do not want to know who was voted off American Idol 2012 this week!
In my American Idol 2012 predictions for this week’s elimination results show, I predicted that Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips and Joshua Ledet would be safe this week. These choices were not so much about their overall track records or their performances on American Idol last night, but more about what kind of support they would manage to pull from their fan bases for various reasons in this round.
I narrowed down who I thought would be in the bottom three in the American Idol 2012 elimination results Thursday night to Hollie Cavanagh, Skylar Laine and Elise Testone. Although I personally feel that Skylar Laine and Elise Testone are more deserving of being saved than either Hollie Cavanagh or Phillip Phillips (especially after last night), I think their fan bases are just too narrow to push them out of the bottom three this week.
Because Hollie Cavanagh was in the sweet spot this week (singing last with a strong performance), and her fan base is pissed off at how people keep dismissing her, I predicted that Hollie would be declared safe this week. That would leave Elise Testone and Skylar Laine to battle it out in the bottom two in the American Idol 2012 elimination results show this week.
If I were going to choose between Elise Testone and Skylar Laine, I would personally have to choose Elise because I just love her bluesy, rocker voice and true passion to be on that stage. Sadly, however, I think Elise Testone does not have strong enough support to beat out country cutie Skylar Laine. Thus, I had predicted that Elise Testone would be the one going home this week.
Was I right in my American Idol 2012 predictions this week? Or was I horribly wrong because the voters decided to get all crazy again? Let’s move right along to those results and find out!
To get us started off on tonight’s American Idol elimination results show, host Ryan Seacrest tells us there were 58 million votes after last night’s show to determine who got voted off American Idol tonight. Before we get started on those results, we have a performance by official tribute band Queen Extravaganza doing “Somebody To Love.” Not quite like watching the real Queen in action, but still a rocking good time and the lead singer just did a backflip on stage! Original Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor are killing it with the band. The performance receives a standing ovation from the judges. Apparently Joshua Ledet is not the only person who actually gets those.
Delaying to getting to those results for longer, we have a bit where Ryan Seacrest sends the remaining top 6 contestants off to gossip mongers TMZ to learn some tips on dealing with the media. Phillip Phillips is advised to own being a sexy man. Whatever. Kind of cute but let’s get to the results already!
Finally we have our first two up for the results, Jessica Sanchez and Elise Testone. Jimmy Lovine thought Jessica Sanchez performing “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a disaster but he loved her second song,”Dance With My Father Again.” Lovine wasn’t fond of either of Elise’s performances last night and thinks she could be in a lot of danger of elimination this week. One of the contestants is safe, one is in the bottom three. Can you guess which is which? Yeah, that was pretty easy… (Yes, it was Elise in the bottom three.)
Now we have another break from the results for an announcement and a performance. First up we have the news that American Idol 2012 live tour tickets will go on sale on Friday, May 11th. Former American Idol alumni Casey Abrams pops his head in with Ryan Seacrest while this is going on. Next we have American Idol alumni Stefano Lagone from season 10 up to perform his new single “I’m On A Roll.”
Finally, more results! Joshua Ledet and Hollie Cavanagh are the next to face the music. One will be safe and one will be up for elimination in the final three. And the next person in the bottom three is… Hollie Cavanagh.
Yet another break in the results as Katy Perry takes the stage to perform her single “Part of Me.” Actually, Katy Perry is not sounding all that great this evening. Good thing she doesn’t get a critique from the judges…
Thank goodness, Katy Perry is now off the stage and we have two more contestants to face the judgement of the voters for the evening, Skylar Laine and Phillip Phillips. And the person finishing out the final three tonight will be… Skylar Laine!
Ryan is now going to send someone back to the safe zone and the voters have decided it will be… Skylar Laine. The bottom two this week are Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone.
Finally, we have the results for who got voted off American Idol 2012 tonight and it is… (scroll down for the final results…)
